Turning 65? It’s time to communicate with Social Security if you have not already done so. Social Security will help you with your Medicare Enrollment, but you need to tell them your plans, online, by phone, or in person.

There are several Medicare-related private insurance programs. The most common are the Medicare Advantage Insurance Plans with a Prescription Drug Plan included or the Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans, which are generally combined with a separate Prescription Drug Plan.

There are instructions for using the Under 65 Marketplace Quoting Tool on the “Compare” page. I would strongly recommend reading that information for the best results. People often do not realize their total discounts because they do not use the government options correctly for those discounts.
The government’s Under 65 Insurance Program is called by several names, officially, it is Federally-Facilitated Marketplace (FFM), other names include Affordable Care Act (ACA), and Obamacare.
Insurance In General
There are various categories of insurance for both business and personal, these include health, life, property, and casualty. Under these categories are numerous sub-categories.
Insurance Agents often select one area to work with. My focus is on Health Insurance such as Medicare, Under 65 Marketplace, Hospital Indemnity, Final Expense, and Dental, Vision, and Hearing.
For Property and Casualty, people commonly need home, personal liability, and auto insurance.
For Businesses, there are options like employee health plans, business liability and partnership plans, and disability insurance for personnel.
For Life, there are whole life and term life plans, term is often used as mortgage insurance, and Annuities.

People seem so happy when they turn 65 and can enroll into Medicare, but also confused. Where to start! So many questions.

Get prepared, even if you are delaying retirement! Between 62 and 65, contact Social Security; you can call, create your online account, or visit a Social Security office. At 65, Social Security will help you enroll in Medicare. Note: Medicare is also available to persons under 65 with certain illnesses and disabilities.

Non-Insurance Options
There are some instances where non-insurance services and discount programs can be helpful. As a small business, you may want to help your employees by offering them a low-cost benefits package that includes telehealth services and discounts like Rx and dental, these could be a big savings benefit for your employees. As an individual, you may also want some of these same services or to have a medical advocate on your side. While these programs are not a replacement for insurance, they can be helpful for some groups or individuals.
