Walgreens has partnered with VillageMD to expand into medical services at Walgreens stores across the county. In the next five years, Walgreens plans to open 500 to 700 “Village Medical at Walgreens” physician-led primary care clinics. These clinics will accept many insurance plans and Walgreens intends to include telehealth and at-home visits, and possibly even dental, optical, and lab services.

This move follows a trial of five in-store clinics in the Houston, Texas area. This addition by Walgreens, along with the CVS MinuteClinic, which has in-store clinics with nurse practitioners, should provide more medical options for consumers.
