Retired, Now What?

Now what indeed! It is about time to start chiseling away at that nice, long bucket list.
We have goals in our working lives; we should have goals for our retirement lives. Sitting on the sofa is not the way to go, nor is simply working in the garden and babysitting grandkids. While fulfilling, seniors need to stay active and keep their minds engaged. So take that bucket list and find new adventures, new things to try, and new experiences to embrace.

Ideas:

Tarrant County College has an awesome Senior Education Program.
For the small fee of $20, people over 55 can take as many senior classes as they like on as many campuses as they would like. There are two 10-week sessions, fall and spring. Some special events may have a fee. If you are not familiar with using MyTCCTrack’s Instant Enrollment, and you need help, the help line is very good, or you can go to any campus and register at the Registrar’s office. — Wide array of classes! Great fun!

Find Senior Centers and visit different Centers until you find one that suits your interests. Their interests and activities vary. Generally, you do not have to live in that community location to join. Just search online for “Senior Centers Near Me.”

Join a Group
Join a Meetup Group or find a social group on Facebook. If you already have an interest or hobby, search for that, or find a new interest. There are networking groups for people still dabbling in business. There are travel groups for organized trips and RVing. There are local geocaching and walking and exercise groups, and many senior insurance plans include gym memberships. Can’t find the right group, consider starting one for museum trips or short day trips, or kite flying, the options are endless. Nextdoor is a place to communicate with people in your local area.
